1960 കളിൽ  മാരി ക്യാരെ എന്നൊരു കത്തോലിക്കാ നഴ്സ്, വാഹനാപകടത്തിൽപെട്ട് ഒരു രോഗിയെ, പേരുവെളിപ്പെടുത്താൻ  അവരിഷ്ടപ്പെടാത്ത ഒരു പട്ടണത്തിലെ ആശുപത്രിയിൽ പരിചരിക്കാനിടയായി. അയാൾ  മരണത്തിൻ്റെ വക്കിലായിരുന്നു. ഏതാനും മണിക്കൂറുകൾക്കുള്ളിൽ മരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ആളെ തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നതിന് സഹായിക്കുന്ന ഒരു സൂചനയും അയാളിൽ നിന്നു കിട്ടിയില്ല. എന്നാൽ ആയാളുടെ പെട്ടിയിൽ നിന്നും ആത്മകഥയുടെ സ്വഭാവമുള്ള കുറെ കുറിപ്പുകൾ കിട്ടി. അവൾ ആ കുറിപ്പുകൾ സൂക്ഷിക്കുകയും വായിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. അതിൻ്റെ ഉള്ളടക്കം അസാധാരണമായിരുന്നതിനാൽ അതു പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കാതിരിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. അതിൻ്റെ  ഫലമാണ് ഈ പുസ്തകം. കരുതിക്കൂട്ടി കത്തോലിക്കാ പൗരോഹിത്യത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ച് (ഇതുപോലുള്ള മറ്റനേകം പേരോടൊപ്പം) സഭയെ തകിടം മറിക്കാനും ഉള്ളിൽ നിന്ന് തകർക്കാനും ശ്രമിച്ച ഒരു കമ്മ്യൂണിസ്റ്റിൻ്റെ കഥയാണിത്.

In the 1960s, a Catholic nurse named Marie Carey cared for a patient who had been in a road accident in a hospital in an unnamed town. The man was near death and died within a few hours. There was no clue to identify him. However, Marie found some notes in his suitcase that looked like an autobiography. She kept and read them. Since the content was very unusual, she decided to publish them. This book is the result.It tells the story of a communist who deliberately entered the Catholic priesthood, along with others like him, with the intention of disturbing and weakening the church from within.
